High Cotton,
like the phrase, is first class, high-spirited livin' large.
Its mahogany woodwork, thick old brick walls, ancient heart
pine floors and high ceilings evoke feelings of warmth and
well being. The banquettes and ceiling fans conjure images
of Ernest Hemingway, Bogart, Gable and Tracy. It's truly
a place to talk about faster horses, older whiskey, and
fortunes made and lost. The food is straightforward, virile
and robust. Red meat, game, fresh fish. Familiar, irresistible
desserts. This is the top of the food chain in quality and
preparation. You'll find this place has a soul as old as
a lowcountry oak.
High Cotton offers guests
the choice of two gracious, private rooms.
The French Quarter
Room is a private dining room that will accommodate
up to 54 guests for a seated dinner and 75-80 guests for
a cocktail reception. This lovely room overlooks the courtyard
of the Lodge Alley Inn. A set of french doors open onto
a small patio which can be used weather permitting. The
French Quarter Room is 29'8'" X 25' with 3 columns
in the room.
The East Bay Room
will accommodate up to 28 guests for a seated dinner.
With its satin covered walls and ornamental fire place
this is a lovely setting for a smaller more intimate group.
The East Bay Room is 22' X 19' 5". This is a semi-private
room just off of the foyer and overlooks historic East
Bay Street in downtown Charleston. <more>
